Honoring Meditation.
May 21st marks World Meditation Day, a global day honoring the practice of meditation and its myriad benefits. Meditation is a cornerstone of my work and has been a steadfast tool for me over the past few decades. It’s something I can always come back to to center myself, give clarity, and continuously improve.
Too often, meditation is approached with an air of pressure — that you need to be in the perfect setting, invest a significant time, and be an “expert” at it for it to serve you.
I am of the belief that we can access the benefits of meditation or “meditate without meditating,” anytime, anywhere. It’s about finding tranquility when your heart rate is up before a meeting, easing your mind after a hard discussion with your kid or significant other, and getting back to your breath when you’re overwhelmed.
Last week, I shared three helpful, actionable tactics that can be accessible to you whenever. I’m sharing them with you here today in hopes you can return to them when they are most needed.
On this World Meditation Day, give your heart and soul the gift of a few moments to recenter and reconnect with yourself.
Practice 1: Ask yourself: “What is OK right now…” “What’s here without any effort?” Start Listening.
Practice 2: Simply check-in with your body/mind/heart. Describe what your body/mind/heart feels like to…an alien. Start Listening.
Practice 3: In a moment of anxiety, start to really focus on all that is going right. Take stock in what is joyful and right. Start Listening.
