The Need for Time In
As you can see from our events page, we are offering several retreats - both daylong and 5 day retreats. What is the benefit of retreating or spending time in? First and foremost is on retreat we get to step away from our everyday lives that are often filled with speedy energy and to-do lists. We get to have our food prepared, our schedule set and all we have to do is show up for ourselves.
For me retreats provided me a taste at what it could feel like to step out of the conditioned mind and into a wider experience of myself - while being held by a larger container. This taste or glimpse I experienced on my first set of retreats was my initial motivation for an ongoing practice. I wanted to live from the place I experienced on retreat or as the meditation teacher Loch Kelly likes to say “train to remain”. I want everyone I teach to have this taste, this glimpse into what it feels like to be held and have freedom from daily conditioning.
In addition to having a structure designed for nourishment and awakening, retreat is also a beautiful way to build community and a container. Being together we can do more than is possible alone. The depth of connection created on retreat is profound. I have “retreat friends” who are now life-long comrades, despite not knowing much about them in the “real world”.
Whether this is your first retreat or you are a seasoned retreater, I invite you to join me in these immersive and unforgettable experiences into your deepest and wisest self. As always, reach out with any questions.
With love,
Kelly
