We Are All One

During my recent journey to Dharamshala, I encountered a profound message that resonated deeply within me: we are all one. At the core of our being, on the most fundamental and spiritual level, we share a common essence. It is this foundational understanding that should guide all forms of leadership and change in our world.

Last month, I had the great privilege of traveling to Dharamshala, India to meet with His Holiness the Dalai Lama in a trip called Compassion in Action: A Conversation about Leadership with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. This was sponsored by The Renee Crown Wellness Institute at the University of Colorado Boulder, The Contemplative Sciences Center at the University of Virginia and the Dalai Lama Fellows. Over the course of five days (and additional travel days), myself and my fellow participants, hailing from diverse corners of the globe and representing various disciplines, came together in pursuit of wisdom to address the challenges facing our world, rooted in compassion and love.

In a society often fixated on material gain and external success, being surrounded by individuals deeply committed to creating positive change was nothing short of awe-inspiring. Our collective journey reaffirmed the belief that love and compassion are not only powerful forces for good, but indeed the only forces capable of combating the injustices and inequalities that plague our world. It's not merely the sentiment of love that holds this transformative potential, but rather, love in action – a force that is communal, potent, and our greatest source of hope.

In addition to the invaluable teachings we received, the sense of community forged during our time together was profoundly nourishing. Being in the presence of fellow practitioners of contemplative work, individuals dedicated to love and service, was both humbling and invigorating. As I return to our shared work at Accompanied, I do so with renewed vigor and an even deeper commitment to spreading these principles far and wide.

With love,

Kelly
